About Coach Jill

Coach Jill Smitherman has over a dozen years of coaching experience in high school volleyball. Currently at West Broward High School her volleyball program has been recognized as one of the tops in Broward County. In their brief four- year history, the Lady Bobcats have won two district championships, 2009 and 2010, and have reached the Regional Quarterfinals and Semifinals. Coach Smitherman also coached the Men’s Volleyball team for three years and led them to the District Finals in 2011. Coach Smitherman was selected twice to be Head Coach for the BCAA All-Star Teams.

Coach Smitherman also coaches at Wildfire Volleyball Academy where she coaches at the national and regional levels.

Jill is a native of Long Island, New York where she started playing volleyball in high school. She played at University of Albany for 2 years and then transferred to Cortland College where she played for 2 years. At Cortland College, Jill was the squad’s Co-Captain in her senior year and led the team to a season finishing ranking of 5th in the nation. Jill then returned to Long Island, where she started teaching and coaching at Sachem High School. Coach Smitherman was the Head Coach for the Boy’s and Girl’s Junior Varsity teams, as well as Assistant Coach for the Boy’s and Girl’s Varsity teams and Head Coach for the Girl’s Freshman Team for 3 years.

Moving to Florida in 1996, Coach Smitherman was a teacher and coach at Cypress Bay High School for four years and helped lead the Lightning to 4 District Championships, a Regional Championship and an appearance in the State Tournament. All the while, she coached the Junior Varsity Program, amassing a record of 65-10, and claiming the 2004 Cardinal Gibbons’ Invitational Championship.

I, the parent /guardian of the above named child, do hereby give my consent to their participation in all activities of the Bobcat Volleyball Camp. I affirm that my child is covered by primary medical insurance and will continue to be covered through out the duration of their attendance as a camper. I understand that I am responsible for my child's medical bills if injury occurs. I give my consent for medical treatment by the closest hospital, doctor, or medical facility.
